Let the ADVENTure begin

So what is advent? Advent is literally from the Latin Adventus, which means arrival. So from that you can most likely deduce that the advent season heralds they arrival to someone... but who?
In most churches, we celebrate the advent, or arrival of Jesus. His birth is foretold throughout the Old Testement and in the first chapters of each of the gospels proclaims it!
Each year, the church celebrates the birth of the Savior and furthermore, we look forward to His truimphal second coming.
Each week, a theme is presented and we are challenged to meditate on them throughout the week. This is where this idea of the ADVENTure comes from... each of the four Sundays before Christmas, a theme will be presented and explored through the week.
The hope that we have in Jesus... Hope in redemption, and looking to hope in the new year. We can live out love... share it, celebrate it, start a love Revolution! We can have Joy... Joy in knowing Jesus, proclaiming that Joy and living with joy in our daily lives. And finally peace... the arrival of the Prince of Peace, finding peace and rest in Jesus and having peace in the unknown.
I am excited to share what God has put on my heart this holiday season! Have a blessed day!

  1. I'm so excited for this. The advent devotional readings in my Mosaic Bible are my favorites. You'd like it too. In one they discuss how the them of anticipation is expressing in the way Christmas carols were written. So neat.
