White Flag... Day 25

The first time I heard this song, the chorus caught my attention. I've always loved the old hymn "I surrender all" and listening to the words, I thought of that great hymn.
Surrender can mean a lot of things, but in our lives, it should mean giving up those things that are bad for our spiritual lives.
I've been trying to get healthy these days, and I am enjoying the salads a lot, however, if someone were to ask me to give up my Mt. Dew... I would probably a. hit you or b. laugh hysterically... I love Mt. Dew, and even though I've gotten to the point where I can drink one of those small cans and be set for the day, I usually still need one a day.
It's just like that in our spiritual lives... we can say that we've surrendered it all to God, but until we get rid of everything that we are holding on to. We need to hang on to that one thing because we need it...
Let it go... I've been working on getting Mt. Dew out of my life all together, and although that might be a few years down the road, I am taking steps to try and better my way of life... taking walks with Spotlight, enjoying a salad for dinner instead of eating fast food stuff... adding in a little extra time for prayer and devotions... as we look to Thanksgiving, Christmas and ultimately New Years... make your resolution to work towards a healthier spiritual life... raise your white flag and surrender whatever you may be holding back... and then leave it at the foot of the cross where it belongs.
Have a blessed day!
