My soul will rest in you...

I was first introduced to this song on a Sunday at Hope Fellowship... I was visiting for a time of refreshing in my life and they did this song... A few months passed and I had forgotten about it, until I was looking around on itunes for some good worship songs... this singer, Kristian Stanfill popped up and I clicked on the song entitled Always. I was immediately taken back to that Sunday at Hope and have been listening to the song ever since.
I attended services at Hope this past Sunday, where Pastor Kent was starting a series entitled Soul Detox, and the first one was the restless soul... and he talked about how hard it is to be at peace (real, soul deep peace) when you are worrying about everything around you... what you'll do tomorrow, how you'll afford something... any number of things can distract you from having a rested and peaceful soul.
We need to remember that when things are at their worst, we can call on God... Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 18:2 says The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, Psalm 28:7 says The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song, Matthew 11:29-30 says Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Why should we fear? we don't really have a reason to... Matthew 6:27 asks: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? and I John 4:18 reminds us that There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord... Where does your help come from?
